So, after 21 months the latest Debian version (codenamed etch) is released. I have been running Debian on my server and mediabox for a long time, but this might just be the right time for me to switch on the desktop as well. I have installed it on my laptop at work (along side my old Windows XP installation) to give it a run. The choices available are just mind blowing (there are over 18500 packages in the stable release alone), so i should be able to configure the system to my liking. After some testing of KDE as well as Gnome i have settled for Gnome as of now, seems that they have the more talented themers/skinners, even if KDE has a lot more tools available.
